After being closed for more than a year due to the pandemic, a landmark New Orleans restaurant returns. Chef Emeril Lagasse’s flagship restaurant, Emeril’s New Orleans, reopens today (Sept. 28) in the Warehouse District.
The reopening, originally planned for Aug. 31, was delayed due to impacts from Hurricane Ida. The restaurant has been closed since March 2020.
David Slater, culinary director of Emeril’s Homebase, will work alongside Lagasse to offer a refined take on the classic menu and overall experience. Emeril’s restaurant reopens today at 5 p.m. for dinner service.
This year marks the restaurant’s 31st anniversary.
Last year, Meril was the first of Lagasse’s New Orleans restaurants to reopen to the public in July 2020. The chef’s restaurant at Louis Armstrong International Airport, Emeril’s Table, reopened this year.

Lagasse’s company, Emeril’s Homebase, hasn’t released a firm timeline for the reopening of its other New Orleans restaurants.
Emeril’s originally opened in 1990 as Lagasse’s first owned and operated restaurant. Since its opening, the restaurant has earned many accolades including Wine Spectator’s “Grand Award” for 20 consecutive years and recognition from the James Beard Foundation.
Emeril’s New Orleans is located at 800 Tchoupitoulas Street.
