Walt Disney World kicks off its 50th anniversary celebration with plenty of special surprises.
Park officials say they’re going big for the milestone event. So big, they’re calling it the “World’s Most Magical Celebration.”
Shining at the center of it all: Cinderella Castle. It’s one of four iconic landmarks the park transforms to mark the special occasion.
“For 50 years, it’s an icon for the Magic Kingdom, as well as an icon for the world,” Matt Fiuza, Disney live entertainment art director, said. “And you can’t miss this new transformed look for the castle. So I think just that alone is an incredible experience.”
And the view is even more stunning at night, thanks to a dazzling new nighttime show called “Disney Enchantment.”

It’s just one way Disney breathes new life into their stories touching both the young and the young at heart.
“And it kind of celebrates that magic of human achievement and optimism that we all need,” Fiuza said.
Of course, fans can still revisit all those old Magic Kingdom favorites: Those popular rides based on “Peter Pan” and “Beauty and the Beast.”
But visitors can also make new memories because at Walt Disney World, seeing is believing. And that’s the magic drawing fans back to the park year after year.
“From the moment you step on property, to the moment you leave…your life will be touched,” Fiuza said.
