AVONDALE, La. (NOLA WEEKEND) - This Halloween season, you can battle against zombies. For the first time, a new attraction, called Zombie Paintball Hunt, opens at NOLA Motorsports Park.

In Avondale, the folks at NOLA Motorsports Park gear up for a different kind of thrill. They’ll get hearts racing on a ride through a “zombie apocalypse.”

“We’re a race track, and so we know that whole Mad Max theme kind of fits with us. That’s, kind of, the direction we started down. And then it moved into zombies and a mix of the two,” said David Pace, general manager at NOLA Motorsports Park.

Brave souls get a front-row seat, armed with a paintball gun, to take aim at the walking dead.

With more events returning this fall, Pace says he hopes to offer something new and inclusive for families. After all, New Orleans is known for Halloween.

“We wanted to do something for Halloween because we know that that’s a big thing in New Orleans. And to give something back to the community, to really try something different out here they can’t experience in New Orleans. It’s fun,” Pace said.

The guided tour takes zombie hunters through eight different scenes for some frights, and some fun, on the outskirts of the racing facility.

“We’ve got a car crash scene. We’ve got the chicken coop scene. We have the incinerator, the toilet scene,” Pace said.

And if you think this looks cool during the daytime, Jim Austin, director of facilities, says wait until you see it at night.

“So, now, all the black lights, everything starts glowing. The zombies have got glow paint on them, and it just changes the whole thing,” Austin said.
