JEAN LAFITTE, La. (NOLA WEEKEND) - New Orleans alternative rock band Better Than Ezra, Grammy-winning country singer-songwriter Travis Tritt and country-pop singer-songwriter Lauren Alaina will headline the Jean Lafitte Seafood Festival returning to the Jean Lafitte Auditorium and Grounds from Nov. 11 to Nov. 13.

Festival organizers announced the music lineup for the event’s return one year after Hurricane Ida devastated the Jean Lafitte community.

Other acts scheduled to perform include Uncle Kracker, Rockin’ Dopsie & The Zydeco Twisters, Nashville South and Amanda Shaw. Organizers also say another special headliner announcement closing out the festival on Saturday night is forthcoming, according to a release.

Festival-goers can expect live music, Louisiana food, swamp tours, kayak rentals, carnival rides and an art walk.

The event space is adjacent to the town’s Wetland Trace, a boardwalk trail through a 41-acre cypress swamp nature preserve adjacent to the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve. Swamp tours will be offered leaving from the Wetland Trace. The festival will also include coastal non-profits offering information and demonstrations and a wine walk through the town’s Wetland Trace.

Originally scheduled in June, organizers postponed the festival until this fall due to “unforeseen issues” stemming from Hurricane Ida recovery efforts.

Tickets are $10 for Friday and $15 for Saturday and Sunday. A weekend wristband costs $30. Tickets can be purchased via the festival website.

A mainstay of the region for years, the Jean Lafitte Seafood Festival was rebooted in 2021 as one of the first major festivals returning to Jefferson Parish since the pandemic. The event celebrates the the seafood, music, food and culture of the bayou region south of New Orleans.

The Jean Lafitte Auditorium and Grounds are located at 4953 City Park Drive in Jean Lafitte.

Organizers say will be provided on the town’s website at townofjeanlafitte.com and lafitteseafoodfestival.com.
