Oak Street Po-Boy Fest announces date for 2023 event

NEW ORLEANS (NOLA WEEKEND) - The Oak Street Po-Boy Festival, the popular event celebrating New Orleans’ beloved sandwich, is set to return on Nov. 19.
The 2023 festival will feature 40 food vendors, showcasing their creative renditions of this city’s most iconic sandwich, multiple music stages, an art market, a kid’s zone and sponsor activations.
The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. between the 8100-8700 blocks of Oak Street;
In previous years, the tasty tradition also featured a po-boy competition where local restaurants battle for top honors. Some of those past favorites among the list of award-winning po-boys include GW Fins’ Lobster Po-Boy, Parkway Bakery’s James Brown Po-Boy and the Nurnberger from Bratz Y’all.
Since 2007, the Oak Street Po-Boy Fest has honored New Orleans’ signature sandwich with nearly 50,000 attendees flocking the Oak Street corridor for music, food and shopping each fall.
Oak Street Po-Boy Festival is produced by the Oak Street Merchants, Residents and Property Owners, whose mission is to stimulate the Oak Street corridor between S. Carrollton and Leake Avenues via improving its appearance and safety, preserving the historic integrity and local culture, and attracting, supporting, and promoting diverse, sustainable businesses.
A portion of the proceeds from this event will benefit the New Orleans nonprofit Son of a Saint, that exists to enhance the lives of fatherless boys through mentorship, emotional support, development of life skills, exposure to constructive experiences and formation of positive, lasting peer-to-peer relationships.
The Oak Street Po-Boy Festival is free, but a wristband is required to purchase a po-boy. Early-bird wristbands will be available. Check poboyfest.com for details.
FOX 8 is a proud sponsor of the Oak Street Po-Boy Fest.
