NEW ORLEANS (NOLA WEEKEND) - One of the region’s popular light shows, Celebration in the Oaks, returns to bring some holiday cheer to Southeast Louisiana. Each year, City Park’s storied event offers festive ways to help create holiday memories with loved ones all season long.

The dazzling light displays also make for some pretty epic Instagrammable moments to make your holiday season shine bright on your feed. Here are a few picture-perfect spots to check out during your next visit to Celebration in the Oaks.

“Dripping” Icicle Oak

City Park is known for its sprawling live oak trees. In fact, the park is home to one of the oldest groves of registered live oaks in the world. So it only makes sense that the park’s majestic oaks take the spotlight as part of the holiday lights attraction. The iconic dripping snow tree drapes the giant oak in twinkly white lights and makes the perfect backdrop for a group family photo.

Mister Bingle

Who wouldn’t want a photo with a New Orleans icon? Mister Bingle has been an iconic, New Orleans holiday tradition for decades. The phrase, “jingle, jangle, jingle” strikes a nostalgic chord for many New Orleanians who remember the Christmas character from its first appearance on Canal Street. The popular character is unmistakable with a cute appearance, including a snowman’s body, an ice cream cone hat, candy cane-striped mittens, holly wings and a candy cane in hand.

Fans of the beloved holiday character still can see him each year at Celebration in the Oaks. Mister Bingle has made an annual appearance each year at Celebration in the Oaks since 2005.

Marshmallow Roasting Pit

Marshmallow roasting is one of the newer experiences added inside the Carousel Gardens Amusement Park over the years at Celebration in the Oaks. Your marshmallow roasting over an open fire makes for the cutest Instagram picture. And when Jack Frost is nipping at your nose, it’s the perfect way to warm up a bit during the experience.

Oversized Ornament

The Botanical Gardens at Celebration in the Oaks is filled with breathtaking light displays on the walking tour. This oversized hallow ornament draped in twinkling white and red lights is screaming to be the center of attention of your next holiday-themed Instagram photo.

Celebration in the Oaks attracts more than 135,000 visitors each year who come to see City Park’s famous live oak trees swathed in over one million twinkling lights and discover hundreds of breathtaking displays throughout the park.
