Former rapper and rising country star Jelly Roll adds New Orleans to ‘Beautifully Broken’ Tour

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Jelly Roll (a.k.a. Jason Bradley DeFord), an unconventional rising star in country music at age 39, is bringing his latest tour through New Orleans.

A run of 37 tour dates was announced Thursday (Feb. 22) morning for Jelly Roll’s “Beautifully Broken” tour, putting him on the road from Labor Day through Halloween.

On Sept. 14, the Nashville native is coming to New Orleans to headline the Smoothie King Center with Warren Zeiders and Alexandra Kay as supporting acts. Fans can sign up for an artist presale on Tuesday, Feb. 27 at 10 a.m. and tickets go on sale for the general public on Friday, March 1 at 10 a.m. Tickets will be available here.

2024 has been a big year for the former rapper who has hit it big with “Save Me”, which features another rising country star, Louisiana native Lainey Wilson. He entered the year with his album Whitsill Chapel going platinum and landed numerous songs at the top of various Billboard charts.

Days ago, Jelly Roll won “Male Country Artist of the Year” at the 2024 People’s Choice Awards with his duet partner Wilson winning Female Country Artist of the Year. He was also the winner of “Best New Artist” at this year’s CMAs and was nominated for “Best New Artist” at GRAMMYs, losing out to 34-year-old singer-songwriter Victoria Monét.

Jelly Roll was also the subject of an ABC News documentary telling the story of his difficult upbringing. He’s been candid about his past life as a drug, acknowledging that at the time he didn’t understand the harm his role played in his community. With his newfound platform, he’s joined in the fight against fentanyl as a reformed man and was recently invited to testify in front of Congress about witnessing first-hand the destruction the opioid has caused in the United States.

About the opening acts

Warren Zeiders is an American country music singer and songwriter. Who’s recently found rapid success by posting cover and original songs on the social media platform TikTok. He began co-writing and singing original songs, including “Ride the Lightning”, which gained over 500 million views on TikTok. Shortly after his social media rise, he signed with Warner Records.

Alexandra Kay is a native of Waterloo, Illinois, and began her career in the music industry writing and performing hip-hop and R&B in the St. Louis music scene, collaborating with artists like Nelly and Huey Alexandra.

Kay also simultaneously wrote and performed covers of country songs. Similar to Jelly Roll, she’s found a recent rise in social media followings, building a TikTok following of over 3.9 million and a Facebook following of over 2 million.
