Jeff Dorson & The Humane Society of Louisiana Want You To Have A Horse!

You Can Save A Horse’s Life

Foster or Adopt A Mardi Gras Horse! Foster or Adopt A Mardi Gras Horse!

NEW ORLEANS, La. (NOLA NOW) - Jeff Dorson of the Humane Society of Louisiana teams up with NOLA Now to discuss the fate of our beloved Mardi Gras seasons after the floats have been pulled, and manure washed away.

Many post-carnival horses meet an unfortunate end, but with Jeff Dorson’s help no horse has prematurely met their time since 2017.

As Dorson goes on to explain, “We have an adoption program with Cascade Stables, our carnival horse broker, in which we foster their extras for 2-3 weeks and then we offer them to the public.”

Rest assured the horses have been vetted and with a $1500 package that includes medicine, feed, and all the paperwork, you can trust the magnificent creature you are bringing home.

For those city dwellers out there, horses can be cared for with a stable until your schedule allows time to bond.

Dorson closes with “The horses worked for us, surely we can give back a little for them!”
