Italian-American St. Joseph’s Day Parade
Italian culture is also on display this weekend, and St. Joseph Society of New Orleans celebrates St. Joseph with a parade through the French quarter. The parade kicks off on Saturday 6 p.m., with 16 floats, marching bands, dance krewes, Italian-themed throws and a whole lot of guys dressed in tuxedos.
One of the parade’s highlights is a huge St. Joseph’s altar. The parade route starts at the intersection of Convention Center Boulevard and Girod Street.

Uptown Super Sunday
Uptown Super Sunday, another one of our city’s big traditions, returns to Central City. Several Black masking Indian tribes are scheduled to come out, showing off their beautiful hand-made suits.

Celebrations center around A.L Davis Park on Lasalle Street kicking off at noon with a festival inside the park. Then, a parade follows starting around 2 pm. It’s usually an all-day affair ending around 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

New Orleans Book Festival
The New Orleans Book Festival celebrates literature and culture at Tulane University from Thursday to Sunday. This year’s event features more than 150 authors and thought leaders participating in panels, author talks, a culinary symposium and book signings.
Part of the schedule also features a crossover day of programming with New Orleans Entrepreneur Week. Family Day at the fest takes place on Saturday, which includes children’s and family programming, and our own FOX 8 Morning Show anchor Kelsey Davis serves as the emcee. The fest is free and open to the public with seating on a first-come, first-served basis.
