NEW ORLEANS, La. (NOLA NOW) - It’s officially Carnival season, which means it’s also time to find the most scrumptious king cake.
Dong Phuong is a James Beard award winning Vietnamese bakery, offering traditional delicacies, including their popular king cakes with seven different flavors.
Owner Huong Tran and her husband immigrated to New Orleans from Vietnam and established the bakery more than 30 years ago.
The lightly sweet, super flaky king cake surged in popularity throughout the area for its brioche dough with scalloped edges and cream cheese-based icing.
Dong Phuong started creating its iconic king cakes in 2008.
