NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The biggest parade weekend of the Carnival season so far gets underway Friday (Feb. 14) night, with revelers gearing up for a packed schedule of processions from the French Quarter to Slidell.
As thousands prepare for the parades, the Fox 8 Weather Authority team is keeping an eye on the forecast.
A strong cold front is set to move through Louisiana this weekend, bringing gusty winds and the potential for severe storms, including damaging wind gusts and possible tornadoes.
Despite the storm threat, the festivities roll on.
Eleven krewes will parade through various parts of the metro area, with Friday’s lineup including the Krewe of Titans in Slidell and the Krewe Boheme in the French Quarter and Marigny.

Bacchus is honoring Louisiana’s fairs and festivals this year, with themed floats ranging from the Louisiana Renaissance Festival to the Independence Sicilian Festival.
Signature throws will match the floats, including specialty beads, socks, and the highly coveted Shaq basketballs. Bacchus is also increasing efforts to make throws more sustainable this year.
